President Tinubu Imposed Diseased Governor Akeredolu on Ondo State Despite Meeting With Stakeholders,
President Bola Tinubu met with Ondo State lawmakers, deputy governor, and elders in Abuja’s Aso Rock Villa on Friday to discuss the state’s political issue and implore all warring parties to “maintain the status quo.”
Insiders informed SaharaReporters that the president “simply imposed ailing Rotimi Akeredolu” on the meeting attendees as governor of Ondo State, offering no obvious remedy to the governance vacuum.
Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu’s Special Adviser, claimed in a release that President Tinubu had settled the state’s political situation, which is false.
The president said Saturday morning, “In his bid to restore political stability in Ondo State, President Bola Tinubu, late on Friday, waded into the months-long crisis between factions loyal to the Executive Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, and the Deputy Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
“This followed marathon negotiations between the President and the Deputy Governor, representatives of Governor Akeredolu, federal and state lawmakers of Ondo, All Progressives’ Congress officials, and other stakeholders at the State House, Abuja.
“The President advised all opponents
Obtain commitments from parties to reconcile and accept peace. Governor Akeredolu, Aiyedatiwa, and the State Executive Council retain their duties, while the leadership of the House of Assembly and APC Chapter in Ondo State is maintained.Mr. Aiyedatiwa added, “I want to say that I pledge to all of you that I embrace every one of you.” He pledged to maintain the status quo and reconcile all factions. I set aside the past. I’ve let go and let God, as the President recommended.
“I say that without offense or guile. Nothing but politics has happened. Politics includes impeachment. It becomes politics if you survive. It arrived. I survived, and everything else is history.
This is one big family, and our father has intervened to bring all the children together to stay under the same family. In my position, I will carry every one of you along in every decision that needs to be made, and we will work together—executive and legislative—to ensure that governance is on track.”
He urged all State Executive Council members to support the Governor and himself to “bring the dividend of democracy” to Ondo State.
I implore all Executive Council members to work with me and the Governor to deliver democracy to our people. We should respect each other’s offices and ages. It will be mutual respect.
I promise the party structure we will work together because the party is supreme. “We will always respect you,” the Ondo State Deputy Governor said.
The Ondo State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oladiji Olamide, read the resolution and added, “Our resolution is to embrace peace. Second, there would be no cabinet dissolutions, and the Deputy Governor would keep House of Assembly leadership.
“We will maintain the status quo for state party leadership and State House of Assembly leadership. Thanks, Mr. President.”
