• President Tinubu’s “bold” leadership on economic reform and geopolitical stability is praised by the OIC

In a conversation with President Azali Assoumani of the Union of Comoros, who serves as the chairperson of the African Union (AU), President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria asserted that the African Union (AU) is strategically positioned to secure consensus positions for the continent on economic and socio-political relations with the rest of the world, particularly with Nigeria’s steadfast backing. The conversation took place on Monday in New York.

“Without embracing freedom and the rule of law, nothing else can bring about development and prosperity. It is an important indicator of sustainable development. We recognize the arduous work being put out by the AU to mediate peace between the warring factions in Sudan and in the Sahel. It will be a major accomplishment if Sudan can find peace. I value your work in Burkina Faso and our successful collaboration on Niger.

“We can talk about the stability and peace of the AU member states on the phone at any moment. For the black race, we require stability and prosperity. Our time is now. To make the most of the prospects for Africa’s growth given in this era, we must maintain peace. A sustainable development paradigm must be created. We’ll work together on Nigeria. However, we must go over those whose view of Africa is limited and terrible. Although we are not averse to conflict, for the time being, the President said, we would rather exercise restraint.

President Azali Assoumani, the chairperson of the African Union, stated that rather than attempting to replace Nigeria’s efforts to ensure peace and prosperity in Africa, the African Union strives to complement them.

“It is our duty to combat the extra-constitutional struggle for dominance across the continent. We have made it clear to China and Russia that it is their duty to keep these nations stable since there can be no joint development efforts in an environment where these nations are unstable due to coups. We value your position on these issues, the AU Chairperson added.

As President of the Union of Comoros, the AU Chairperson stated that Comoros aspires to learn from Nigeria’s experience in regards to the consistent improvement in diversity management, election officiating, and economic growth over many years.

The Comoros President highlighted that in order to organize an election that will earn us the respect of the world community and allow us to develop at the appropriate speed and quality, we need Nigeria’s experience.

Hissein Brahim Taha, the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), was also greeted by President Bola Tinubu, who reaffirmed that the Islamic world has a critical role to play in the maintenance of peace and prosperity in Africa and around the world.

The work we are doing in the Sahel is crucial. We know we need to work harder. We must convey to our Muslim brethren who are attempting to usurp authority that only Allah choose rulers. The will of Allah must be respected. I’m willing to work with you. Your efforts to help agricultural development and food security by supplying resources from Islamic banks have been highly respectable, and our region is grateful. I’m resolved to work with you to improve the lives of Africans and Nigerians, the President remarked.

The head of the 57-nation organization of cooperation commended the president of Nigeria for his active efforts to bring African governments to a point of mutual understanding.

“We must come to an agreement regarding the necessity of peace, particularly among our member states. Because you are uniting people, your election as ECOWAS Chairman gave us faith and optimism that the situation in the Sahel region would improve. We were pleased that you were elected President of Nigeria, and we welcome the developments, said the OIC chief.

The OIC Secretary-General invited President Tinubu to attend the OIC Heads of State Summit, which is scheduled to take place in a few months.
