Professor Sunday Nnamchi’s election was declared illegal by the Enugu State National Assembly and State House of Assembly tribunals, but their decisions have been overturned by the Court of Appeal located in Lagos.
Recall that on September 8, 2023, the tribunal ruled that Prince Cornelius Nnaji, also known as Ike Nike, had emerged victorious from the polls conducted on February 25.
The LP candidate was deemed ineligible to run for office by the three-member panel chaired by A. M. Abubakar since he never left the institution before applying for the new job.
Nnamchi, however, filed a request for remedy at the Appeal Court, attempting to have the lower court’s decision overturned.

The Court of case ruled on Friday, finding that the Labour Party candidate’s case has substance.
Subsequently, the court pronounced him the genuine victor of the election to represent the state’s Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency.
