Barely 48 hours after a fatal motor accident claimed 14 lives in Kafin Hausa, Jigawa State, another tragic car crash has occurred in the state, leaving six people dead.

The latest incident happened on Wednesday night along the Auyo road to Adiyani in the Guri Local Government Area.

Our correspondent learnt from sources that the deceased were residents of Adiyani and were family friends returning from a condolence visit.

It was observed that the accident was considered a double tragedy because the community was still reeling from the shock of the previous incident.

The latest accident has brought the total number of deaths on Jigawa roads to 20 in just two days.

When contacted by our correspondent, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Command, Shi’isu Lawan Adam, confirmed the incident.

He stated that efforts to find details of the incident were ongoing.

He said, “The accident involved a commercial Wagon Golf car, plate number not identified. Victims were confirmed dead by a medical doctor on duty at the Hadejia General Hospital.”

Some family members of the deceased expressed their shock and grief over the incident when our correspondent contacted them on the telephone. “We are still trying to come to terms with the loss of our loved ones. The victims were returning home from a condolence visit,” said Garba Aliyu, a brother of one of the deceased.

Malam Muhammad, the 32-year-old father of one of the deceased, Muhktar Muhammad, who said the incident was a test from God Almighty, called on the government to take urgent measures to improve road safety.

“We urge the government to repair damaged roads, enforce traffic laws, and educate drivers on safe driving practices,” he said.

Meanwhile, the police have appealed to the public to provide any information that may aid in the investigation of the incident.
