Soldiers clear kidnappers’ camp, rescue victims in Taraba

Soldiers from the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army (NA) under Operation Whirl Stroke have cleared a kidnappers’ camp and rescued many victims in the Punkun-Fikyu area in Ussa LGA of Taraba State.

The acting spokesman of the operation, Lt Oni Olubodunde, in a statement, explained that soldiers who were working on intelligence dislodged the bandits, cleared their camps and recovered arms and ammunition.

He said, “Additionally, troops deployed at Kufai Amadu and Kasuwan Haske, in collaboration with troops from Sub-Sector 1A OPWS, acted on intelligence and also cleared a hideout of terrorists in Vingir village in Katsina-Ala LGA of Benue State.”

He said the terrorists were overwhelmed by superior firepower, leading to their withdrawal in disarray, which led to the arrest of a suspected kidnapper, Dogo Manu, who was found in possession of two mobile phones and N40,000.
