Soldiers killed, inmates freed as gunmen attack Kogi prison

TWO soldiers have reportedly been killed in an attack on Kabba Correctional Centre in the state.

Gunmen were said to have invaded the prison facility in the early hours of today, releasing many prisoners.

The soldiers were said to have mounted a routine check point some metres before the prison situated along Lokoja-Okebukun-Kabba-highway.

Some guards at the prison were said to have sustained injuries in the attack.

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police Zone 8, Ayuba Edeh, who confirmed the jailbreak, said the state Commissioner of Police and other heads of security agencies have swung into action.
