Stakeholders to debate electronic media growth

When industry leaders get together for the second Nigerian Electronic Media Content Exhibition and Awards, the development, creation, and maintenance of a market for content produced by electronic media will be the main topics of discussion.

The Electronic Media Content Owners Association of Nigeria, the organization behind the event, plans to conduct it in Lagos from August 22–24, 2023.

This year’s theme is “Reviving the Broadcast Media Industry- the Role of Stakeholders (Content Producers, Broadcast Media, and Advertisers)”

It will include award recognition for many categories of participants in the electronic media business.

EMCOAN has learned the value of the content market as a workable business instrument to expand the sector, according to Project Coordinator Alayande Stephen, who recently spoke at a press conference to announce the event’s 2023 edition.

He stated, “What we have realized in Nigeria is that the majority of awards are focused toward the genre of films/cinema/screen releases while only a handful have given the TV/Radio and Online sectors even a very small amount of thought. NEMCEA has been filling this enormous void since last year.

The goal is to keep including all of the business’s stakeholders in its value chain. With a focus on TV, radio, and online, Nigeria’s electronic media industry is still quite large and influential, but we need to consider various business models for the variety of venues that the digital age and technology have made possible for us.

Emeka Ossai, a member of the NEMCEA Board of Trustees, claimed that the organization’s desire to develop a market for the flood of content being produced by the nation’s producers led to the founding of NEMCEA.

He expressed hope that the event would spark the rather dormant Nigerian television industry’s revival.
