The Supreme Court confirmed that Bala Mohammed, the governor of Bauchi State, was duly elected.

Sadique Abubakar, the All Progressives Congress candidate for governor of the state, did not overthrow Mohammed in any of the two lower courts.

At the two courts, Abubakar had claimed widespread non-compliance with the Electoral Act throughout the election.

His appeals at the appellate court and tribunal were both dismissed for lack of merit.

He did not prove his claims beyond a reasonable doubt, according to the rulings of the two judges.

On Friday, Justice Ibrahim Saulawa concluded that the appeal lacked merit after ruling on all six of the appellant’s claims in the lead judgment.

The governor expressed his gratitude to his party and the state’s citizens for the victory in a response posted on X.

“In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful, I offer all praises to Allah for our victory. This victory is the property of the Bauchi State people and our respected party, the @OfficialPDPNig.

“I would want to thank all of our supporters who came along on this journey, especially our friends, well-wishers, political allies, and leaders in our respective religions and faiths, on behalf of my family and myself. This triumph confirms that Bauchi State has to continue its good job. #Bauchi #Greater He penned.
