The allegations, Tanko said, were propaganda aimed at distracting Nigerians from electing politicians with “competence, accountability and good governance.”

“Even respected northern voices and independent investigators who took out time to properly examine many of these accusations have openly clarified that several of the claims against His Excellency Peter Obi were either distorted, exaggerated or outright false” the Obidient Movement Coordinator said in a post on his official X handle on Sunday.

According to reports, Abdullahi’s comments come after INEC decided to remove David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola’s identities as the ADC’s national chairman and national secretary from its official website.

The commission also said that it would not recognize Nafiu Bala, who is pursuing legal action to be named national chairman, and that recognition of all party divisions would be suspended until a substantive matter before the Federal High Court was resolved.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Thursday, Abdullahi responded to the situation by accusing INEC of breaking the law and picking sides in the party’s ongoing leadership crisis.

Abdullahi maintained that Nafiu Bala Gombe, a former party official, had no legal authority to act on behalf of the party after his resignation and the dissolution of the executive committee he was a member of.

As the next highest body following the convention, he insisted that the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the party had already made decisions that affected the party’s leadership structure.

Abdullahi also charged INEC with acting like a criminal organization and contempt of court.

Find out more
Newspaper about politics
He stated, “INEC was aware that he was no longer a party official as of July 17. He has no location, as I mentioned earlier.

“The NEC is the next most senior organ of the party, after the convention, and it has been established in court that the subject of leadership is entirely an internal business of the political parties.

Even though he claimed not to have resigned, the NEC stated that the executive to which he belonged had been properly dissolved.

What justifies INEC’s recognition of Bala’s actions, then? Because INEC has been aware that he is no longer a party official since they got a notice of his resignation on August 12.

What is the basis for his recognition? Thus, acknowledging Nafiu Bala’s behavior implies that INEC is adopting a stance.

“INEC has effectively disregarded the appeal court’s directive, which is illegal.”

“INEC has acted with disrespect, if that is what you are referring to. INEC is acting like a criminal organization right now. According to the Court of Appeal, Amupitan has perpetuated the status quo, making him a chief criminal.

According to reports, King Mitchy recently used Seyi Tinubu’s financial support to refurbish a public school in six days. Later, she got into a heated online dispute with VeryDarkMan over claims that she had neglected to report public donations that she had received since 2025.

In response, VeryDarkMan intensified the dispute by accusing Seyi Tinubu of funding Mitchy’s charitable endeavors.

Additionally, the activist urged the public to hold Mitchy and Seyi Tinubu responsible if anything were to happen to him in a recent video that was uploaded to his Instagram page.

In a series of posts on his Instagram profile, Seyi Tinubu responded, calling the accusations and implication made against him “false” and stating that the only time he ever spoke with King Mitchy was in public, when he provided funding for her non-governmental organization, or NGO.

He added, “My name has been purposefully included in an online dispute between VeryDarkMan (VDM) and King_Mitchy (‘Mitchy’) over the past few days.”

“Let me be clear: the accusations and suggestions made about me are untrue.”

Seyi Tinubu clarified that as part of his larger support for youth empowerment projects around Nigeria, he met Mitchy once along with others and gave financial support for her NGO activities.

He claims that a follow-up meeting was planned to get information on the donation’s impact, but it was postponed because of his health.

“No secret arrangement, no private encounter, and no impropriety of any kind have ever occurred,” he said.

The president’s son was worried that his reputation was being damaged by a quarrel that he neither started nor took part in.

He added that VeryDarkMan “seems to have been searching for a trigger” to attack him and took advantage of the circumstance.

“Let’s at least deal with the facts if my name attracts attention. It is not illegal to support charitable causes. It is not a scandal to meet someone in public to help their NGO. “Loudly repeating lies does not make them true,” he continued.

Seyi Tinubu also denounced what he called cyberbullying and harassment, cautioning that such attacks may have detrimental effects on mental health.

He wrote, “I will not be intimidated, and I will not use fear to elevate fiction.” “No argument should turn into harassment that puts someone’s safety or well-being at risk.”

He reiterated his dedication to generosity, pointing out that he has supported programs in education, business, healthcare, and youth empowerment for more than ten years through his foundation and personal contributions.

He declared, “Outreach and philanthropy must never be politicized or weaponized.” “Builders, not bullies, are what Nigeria needs.” Instead of sensationalism motivated by conjecture, we require responsible discourse.

Rejecting the charges, he urged moderation, de-escalation, and a return to “truth and responsibility.”

“The noise will subside. Work and character survive. I’m still dedicated to providing honest and open service to Nigerians, particularly our young people,” he said.

The panel is headed by a high court judge, Justice Abdullahi Mikhail, with Lawyer, Bala Marika and Abubakar Salisu as members while, lawyer, Ibrahim Mohammed Babangida will serve as the Secretary of the investigative panel.
The Governor noted that inaugurating the investigative panel is in accordance with the provisions of the law urging it’s members to be diligent, just, and transparent in getting to the crux of the issue.

He also pledged to give them the necessary support in carrying out their duties.
The Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of the State, Nasiru Mu’azu had earlier explained that the inauguration of the investigative panel by the Governor is in compliance with the provision of Section 31(3) of the Niger State Local Government Law 2001 (As Amended).
Terms of reference for the investigative panel include investigating the allegations leveled against the suspended Chairman of Chanchaga local government council, to obtain and examine evidence, and to ensure that the evidence written or oral of any witness be made on oath or declaration, among others.

Recall the chairman has been in a running court battle over his suspension and plans to impeach him by his LG councillors over allegations of misconduct and financial mismanagement of council’s funds.
The allegations were contained in a letter dated July 28,2025 and signed by the councillors who cited lack of accountability and incompetence among other allegations.

Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan reportedly accused Akpabio and former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello of conspiring to kill her.
The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, were copied in Akpabio’s April 3 plea to the IGP.

To maintain peace and secure his safety, the Senate President called the senator’s remarks “defamatory” and urged authorities to take legal action.

The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the development to The Nation, saying that the IGP has already taken action on the appeal.
“Yes, the petition from Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, has been received. According to Adejobi, the IGP has instructed a team to look into it.

The senator said in a homecoming speech to her supporters on April 1 that the purported plot to remove her was the result of an unsuccessful attempt to have her recall from the Senate started.

She informed the audience that she had filed an official police complaint before making her allegations public.

On March 13 at 10:00 p.m., Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan was quoted as saying: “Remember, two days prior to that, Akpabio had called Governor Ododo to start my recall, but Ododo informed him it would not be feasible.” “The masses are with me, so the recall will not be possible,” Ododo informed Akpabio. Akpabio, however, summoned Yahaya Bello because he was not happy. Everyone told me about it.

It was a two-part meeting. He was instructed to start my recall and promised to provide the funding. He said that he ought to try to murder me as his second statement. Although I had written to the Inspector General of Police, I did not make this public.

According to the senator, Akpabio advised Yahaya Bello to ensure that the murder of me did not take place in Abuja but rather here, making it appear as though the murderers were locals.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State have expressed divergent views on the weighty allegations levelled against the suspended Governor of the state, Siminalayi Fubara.

According to report the former Head of Service in Rivers State, Dr George Nwaeke escalated the political tension in the state on Saturday after reeling out allegations against the embattled governor.

Nwaeke, who recently resigned from Fubara’s government, alleged that the governor orchestrated the bombing of the State House of Assembly complex in 2023 to prevent his impeachment by lawmakers loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The former Head of Service claimed to have witnessed a bag of money being handed over to a former leader of the Assembly, who later became Fubara’s Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, to attack the Assembly Complex situated along Moscow Road, Port Harcourt.

Nwaeke also alleged that Governor Fubara was planning to bomb oil facilities in the Niger Delta in a bid to get President Bola Tinubu-led administration tainted.

According to Nwaeke, Fubara “clearly” told him “that he is the chief security officer of Rivers State and his brother is in charge of Bayelsa State, and all the pipelines are under their care; that at the appropriate time, they would tell the boys what to do, and the fund was not an issue.

“That was why when he made that statement in his public function that “I will tell the boys what to do at the appropriate time” I knew something was up and perhaps the time was near”.

He claimed that Governor Fubara’s plan was to start from “non-Ijaw speaking areas to destroy oil facilities“, stating that the move was to “remove attention from the Ijaw and make it have a statewide look”.

Nwaeke further alleged a secret meeting between Fubara and some national opposition figures to support a Northern candidate, possibly Bala Mohammed for the 2027 election.

This is even as Nwaeke’s wife, Mrs Florence Nwaeke also called for help, claiming that her husband was in trouble.

Speaking to journalists shortly after her husband’s outburst, Mrs Florence expressed fears for Nwaeke’s safety, stating that he could be under duress to make the allegations.

The allegations stirred a serious political debate as Fubara and Wike’s supporters clashed online.

In separate interviews with DAILY POST, weekend, the public secretary of the PDP, Sydney Gbara and his APC counterpart, Ikenga Chibike gave conflicting views on the matter.

Nwaeke should show proof of allegations, he has been used – PDP

Sydney Gbara told DAILY POST that the allegations levelled against Fubara by Nwaeke were politically motivated.

The PDP spokesman, who urged the former HoS to substantiate his claims by publishing poofs, said Nwaeke was only being used by Fubara’s enemies to further cripple the suspended governor.

He said, “Rivers State is currently going through a turbulence and trying time. Politics has been taken off limits to nearly everything even up to how we breathe in and out. Everything in Rivers State has been politicized.

“Ordinarily, one could ask why and how a man, who served in the government as Head of Service could say all these.

“He was due to serve as Head of Service under Wike but Wike refused to pick him and appointed someone else.

“He had retired and was no longer in active service when Governor Fubara felt he wasn’t given the opportunity he deserved to serve in that high capacity. The governor now appointed him but this is the way he is telling the governor ‘thank you’.

“It was so shocking seeing him coming to give such allegations. I think there is a sinister plot to victimize innocent citizens.

“They are after everyone that they feel is strong in Fubara’s government. They want to implicate everyone including the governor.

“He was in the government when all that he alleged happened. Why didn’t he resign that time if what he is saying is true?

“You were there without any complaints until you feel like the man’s end has come politically and then you stand up to tell such allegations.

“He has carried out three press conferences in less than 12 hours just to see how he can damage-control the mess that he has put himself.

“He should go ahead and bring the proof to tell the world that he can substantiate the claims. It is the height of desperation that is being demonstrated here.

“We are not bothered about such outbursts because we know it has not taken him anywhere. They have used him for what they want to achieve and that is the end of him. They are not going to take him seriously”.

We’re worried, the allegations must be taken seriously and investigated – APC

On his part, the spokesman of the Chief Tony Okocha-led APC, Ikenga Chibike said the allegations were too weighty to be ignored, urging the security agencies to “do the needful”.

According to him, the former HoS was privy to Governor Fubara’s political functions and may have some facts as claimed in his allegations.

He said, “The allegations are very embarrassing. We all understand that the Head of Service is a member of the State Executive Council he is a critical stakeholder and a top echelon in the Rivers State government.

“All the allegations he made must be taken seriously and considered to ascertain to what extent it happened.

“Nwaeke is someone we know as a responsible man. We believe that he cannot just come on air to make frivolous allegations. We are concerned, worried and troubled at the shocking revelation.

“We think that the security agencies should do the needful by investigating the allegations”.

Meanwhile, the governor has since dismissed the allegations, stating that Nwaeke has been compromised.

A fresh political storm has erupted within the Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) amid accusations that the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, mismanaged party funds and made misleading claims regarding financial donations.

In a statement issued by the Zamfara APC Secretary, Hon. Mansur Aminu Khalifa, the party dismissed Matawalle’s claim of donating ₦500 million to APC supporters as a fabrication, challenging him to provide proof of how the funds were distributed. The statement accused Matawalle’s faction of peddling falsehoods to manipulate party members.

“The claim that Minister Matawalle donated ₦500 million to Zamfara APC supporters is misleading. Even Bashir Ataka, the former Welfare Secretary under Tukur Danfulani, has debunked this narrative,” the statement read.

The controversy within the state APC escalated further as Khalifa asserted that Tukur Danfulani, the current state chairman, was no longer recognized by the party, insisting that his suspension remains valid. Consequently, he declared all actions taken by Danfulani and his executives as illegitimate.

Beyond financial disputes, the party also accused Matawalle and his associates of diverting relief materials, including 12,000 bags of rice donated by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to APC supporters in Zamfara. Additionally, allegations surfaced regarding the misappropriation of ₦50 million donated by President Tinubu for victims of armed banditry and fire disasters, with claims that the funds have not reached the intended beneficiaries.

The statement praised Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji, a prominent APC leader in the state, for his unwavering support for party members and his contributions to President Tinubu’s 2023 election victory. It described Jaji as a key political force in Zamfara’s APC structure.

Further highlighting Matawalle’s diminishing influence, the statement referenced an incident in which his convoy was allegedly stoned by residents during his recent visit to Zamfara, underscoring the growing opposition to his leadership.

With the 2027 elections drawing closer, the statement warned that Matawalle’s political relevance in Zamfara was declining, urging President Tinubu and the APC National Working Committee to be wary of his actions.

Meanwhile, the party reaffirmed its support for the Isiyaka Ajiya Anka-led APC faction, emphasizing that it remains the legitimate leadership in Zamfara until a new congress is held.

As the battle for political dominance within the Zamfara APC intensifies, party factions continue to trade accusations, setting the stage for a prolonged power struggle in the state.

The Kaduna State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has dismissed allegations by former Governor Nasir El-Rufai that Governor Uba Sani misappropriated local government funds for personal acquisitions abroad.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, ALGON spokesperson Alhaji Muhammad Lawal Shehu described the claims as false and misleading.

He reaffirmed Governor Sani’s commitment to financial transparency, respect for local government autonomy, and proper management of public funds.

Shehu also accused El-Rufai of imposing “Riot Damage Deductions” on local governments in Southern Kaduna during his administration, a policy he claimed deepened ethnic tensions.

He commended Governor Sani for reversing the policy and focusing on rural development, economic revitalization, and security.

ALGON further stated that monthly allocations to local governments have more than doubled under Governor Sani compared to El-Rufai’s tenure.

The association urged the public to disregard the former governor’s allegations, calling them unfounded and politically motivated.
