Taraba: Army clears kidnappers’ camp, rescues victims

Soldiers from 6 Brigade of Nigerian Army under operation Whirl Stoke in Taraba State have cleared kidnappers camp and rescued many victims.

Acting Director Army Public relations, Lt Oni Olubodunde, announced this in a statement, on Tuesday.

He said the cleared kidnappers’ camp was located at Punkun area in Fikyu, Ussa Local Government Area of the state.

Olubodunde further stated that  the soldiers who were working on intelligence successfully dislodged the bandits and cleared their camps and also recovered many arms and ammunition.

“Additionally, troops deployed at Kufai Amadu and Kasuwan Haske, in collaboration with troops from Sub-Sector 1A OPWS, acted on intelligence also cleared an  hideout of terrorists in Vingir Village of Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, Benue State,” he said.

The Army spokesman stated that the terrorists were engaged with superior firepower, leading to their withdrawal in disarray.

He said a suspected kidnapper named Dogo Manu was found in possession of 2 Techno mobile phones and Forty Thousand Naira (#40,000), was arrested.

Oni added that further search at the kidnappers camp resulted in the recovery of 1 AK 47 rifle.
