On Wednesday, the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal rejected 15 of the 27 witnesses cited by Peoples Democratic Party candidate Atiku Abubakar for failing to support his claim that President Bola Tinubu was wrongly elected in the February 25 presidential election.

Justice Stephen Adah, one of the five members of the panel, delivered the judgment on its behalf.

Due to the petitioner’s failure to submit the 15 witnesses’ sworn statements with the petition, the Tribunal disregarded their testimony.

It also stated that the petitioner was unable to submit the sworn statements prior to the expiration of the 21-day window following the announcement of the election results.
