Farida Abdulkabir, also known as Farida Sobowale, the CEO of House of Phreedah Body Care, and Demola Odulaja, the estranged husband of the Lagos socialite, have spoken about why they split up around two months after their grandiose wedding.
In an interview with ArewaTopeFamous, a Yoruba social commentator, on Tuesday through Instagram Live, Odulaja said that Sobowale’s alleged promiscuity, deceit, and covetousness, among other things, were factors in their breakup.
After the marriage failed, Sobowale nearly fell into the lagoon at the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos, according to a previous story from The PUNCH. However, on Thursday, bystanders stopped him.
Sobowale claimed she made the decision to take her own life because she was unable to deal with the effects of her failed marriage.
However, Odulaja claimed that despite having known Sobowale for a significant 20 years, their relationship had become unstable because of her “unrestrained and promiscuous way of living.”
He also remembered a time before their marriage when Sobowale had concurrent personal connections with him and several other men.
The London-based businessman also claimed that Farida frequently and indiscriminately paid a visit to his brother who lived nearby and even lingered there for hours without providing any justification for her actions.
In response to inquiries on Sobowale’s accusation and gigolo designation, Odulaja stated, “I am quite affluent. In Gbagada, I reside in a home with 22 bedrooms.
“I’m not some gigolo. People in London are familiar with me because I come from a wealthy family and have been travelling in first class for a long time, he continued.
He said, “Farida met me in Lagos in 2010 when I returned to Nigeria from London in 2009. I took her to China in the same year to launch an importation firm, which of course was successful and marked the start of her travels.
He also claimed that he had romances with Sobowale when she was still wed to her ex-husband, Tunde Sobowale, for whom she had three children, but he remained silent about the supposed N100 million wedding that she reportedly paid for herself out of her own pocket.
