Senator Ibrahim Tsauri, the immediate-past National Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party, has referred to the allegations made by the former Governor of Rivers State, Nyseom Wike, that he (Wike) was poisoned in the PDP secretariat in 2018 as “beer parlour conversations.” Tsauri is a member of the People’s Democratic Party.

Wike made these statements about two weeks ago in Port Harcourt, the capital of the state of Rivers, during a family thanksgiving service that was held in his honour. Wike said that his liver and kidneys stopped functioning after he was allegedly poisoned at the PDP secretariat.

“Ever since that Sunday, I haven’t left my room once,” she said. It was terrible, but those who went to the state dinner on January 1 of 2019 will know that I did not speak at any point during that day. I went ahead and sat down there, and then I instructed my deputy governor to give the speech on my behalf.

“The citizens were clueless as to what was taking place. After that banquet, after midnight, I was whisked out of the country under the pretence that the mission had been successful. When we arrived in Beirut, the medical professionals gazed at me, and I returned their gaze. They were not sharing any information with me. They told us there would be a lot of tests to take.

“However, through the providence of God, what could have been a catastrophic situation was miraculously turned around by God, who began the restoration of the damaged organs right away.”

Tsauri, a member of the PDP National Executive Committee, asked: “Who poisoned Wike? We talk or remark on important problems, not beer parlour issues. If Wiki stated the names of specific people or organisations, then we would be able to make a comment.

The former representative in the federal legislature continued by saying, “You should also try to figure out when, when, and how he made those assertions. In the field of sociolinguistics, the manner in which a person utters words is more important than the words themselves when it comes to determining their meaning.

“We still see Mr. Wike as a member of the PDP, and as a result, we don’t like to be taking issues with him on his comments,” He has always been like that, and you cannot expect him to change simply because he is no longer in a position of power just because he resigned a few weeks ago. Give him some space to come to terms with the betrayal that occurred outside of the office by people he considered to be his friends.

However, in a rapid response, Chief Ogbonna Nwuke, a former Rivers State Commissioner for Information and Communications, criticised Tsauri for playing politics with such a serious situation. He stated that Tsauri’s actions were inappropriate.

This is the kind of comment you get when people are appalled by your profile and when they are disappointed because they feel like you don’t matter. When people feel like you don’t matter, they are appalled by your profile. This is due to ignorance.

Why isn’t he able to go to Beirut and verify whether or not the previous governor’s statement is false? Or would he have chosen for the man to pass away instead? How could you engage in petty squabbling over something as important as a person’s health and life?” Nwuke queried.

In addition to this, he stated, “I believe that they are the ones engaged in beer parlour conversations because their statements are devoid of sense and significance.”

“Those who think Wike will be silent after leaving office as governor are plainly upset that he is still talking and addressing matters of national concern,” the author writes. “What is occurring is that those who think Wike will be quiet after leaving office as governor are clearly disappointed.”
