Abdul Samad, 23, was charged by the police on Monday in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stabbing another man in the waist with a pair of scissors.
The trader defendant, who lives in Ogba, was tried for assault and causing a breach of peace.
The crimes were committed in the Sakamori neighborhood of Ogba, Lagos, on January 9, 2024, according to the prosecutor, Inspector Innocent Odugbo, who testified in court.
According to Odugbo, the defendant and the complainant, Mr. Samsudeen Jolaosho, got into a fight about money.
According to the prosecutor, the complainant suffered severe bleeding after the defendant stabbed him on the waist with a scissor.
He continued by saying that onlookers hurried the complainant to the hospital.
The prosecutor claims that the offenses violate Lagos State’s 2015 Criminal Law Sections 168 and 173.
Nonetheless, the defendant entered a not guilty plea to the allegations.
A bail of N100,000 was granted to the defendant by Magistrate Mrs. M. O. Popoola, along with two sureties in the same amount.
Popoola postponed the case’s mention until March 20.
