The Appearing Director, Defence Data, Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau, says some allegedly youths ambushed and killed 16 officers and males of the 181 Amphibious Battalion of the Nigerian Military on a peace mission to Okuoma group in Bomadi Native Authorities Space of Delta state on Thursday.
Gusau revealed this on Saturday in Abuja, including that these killed had been the commanding officer, two majors, one captain and 12 troopers.
He stated that the troops had been ambushed and killed whereas responding to a misery name arising from a conflict between Okuama and Okoloba communities in Delta.
In line with him, the Chief of Defence Employees, Gen. Christopher Musa, had ordered an instantaneous investigation and arrest of these concerned within the heinous crime.
He additional acknowledged that the incident had been reported to the Delta State Authorities.
“The army, nevertheless, stays targeted and dedicated to its mandate of sustaining peace and safety within the nation.
“Thus far, a number of arrests have been made whereas steps have been taken to unravel the motive behind the assault,’’ he assured.
