Yuletide: Police ban sale, use of fireworks in Nasarawa

The sale and use of fireworks during the Yuletide season is prohibited in the state by the Nasarawa State Police Command.

This was said in a statement on Thursday in Lafia, signed by DSP Ramhan Nansel, the Police Public Relations Officer, and state commissioner of police Mr. Umar Nadada.

Nadada gave divisional police personnel instructions to guarantee complete adherence to the law.

The risks attached to it, such as the possibility that it would be exploited by criminals to incite conflict and commit crimes, make the prohibition imperative.

“There is a greater likelihood of others causing physical harm and fires,” he continued.

The CP issued an immediate warning to fireworks merchants and consumers to stop.

Additionally, he asked parents and guardians to dissuade their kids and wards from purchasing and using fireworks because anyone caught doing so would be subject to the full force of the law.
