Bandits Raid Kaduna Wedding, Kill 13, Kidnap Several Guests

At least 13 individuals were killed and an unknown number of guests were kidnapped when suspected bandits stormed a wedding celebration in Kahir village, Kagarko Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

Late on Sunday night, the attackers rushed the premises and started shooting at those gathered for the celebration.

According to reports, the highly armed attackers operated without encountering any opposition for about an hour.

Shehu Bala, a resident, reported that the shooters entered the wedding hall at 11:47 p.m. and started shooting, frightening the attendees.

He was cited as stating, “In fact, there are two of my friends who were inside the hall that also sustained bullet injuries during the attack.”

While those with more severe injuries were sent to Kaduna for additional care, a number of injured victims were sent to Kagarko General Hospital.

Thirteen persons were reported dead in the attack by a community leader. The victims have now been buried, he said, and efforts are still being made to figure out how many people were kidnapped.

He claims that during the raid, the attackers also pillaged local stores, stealing food, supplies, and medications from a nearby pharmacy.

The community leader stated, “The heavy gunfire sent the entire community into panic, forcing some residents to flee into the bush.”

Although Kagarko police verified the occurrence, they stated they are still gathering information, particularly on how many people were abducted.

The killings and kidnappings were verified by DSP Hassan Mansur, the spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, who also stated that a comprehensive report will be made public following the conclusion of investigations.

In the meantime, it was claimed that a serving senator and Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, the deputy governor of Kaduna State, visited the wounded victims at the Kagarko hospital.
