Habib Mai-Lemo, the spokesperson for the Kwankwasiyya Movement, said that a joint presidential ticket with Mr. Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso would be a big problem for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election.
Mai-Lemo said this while answering questions on Trust TV about how strong the Kwankwasiyya Movement is. Supporters are pushing for a political alliance between Obi and Kwankwaso more and more online.
He said that both politicians have a lot of support from regular people in different parts of the country, calling their followership “organic” and able to affect the results of elections.
He said that this kind of alliance could bring together people from different political and regional backgrounds, especially those from the North and the South-East, and it could also boost support in the southern part of the country.
Mai-Lemo said that earlier attempts to create a similar alliance before the 2023 general election failed, but she still believes the idea is possible.
He said that if the two politicians worked together with support from leaders in other areas, it would change the country’s political landscape in a big way.
He said, “I think we need to be very honest.” We need to realize that we have seen what alliances can do. Sometimes you need to look at what’s really going on in order to reach your goals.
“Like I told you, everyone in the country knows that only Peter Obi and Kwankwaso have real followers. Those followers are ready to go. In fact, there are a lot of good things about it.
“It will help us bring together the northern and eastern parts of Nigeria with the southern part of the country.
“I think it’s easy to sell when the people in there support it.” I think Tinubu’s ticket will be dead on arrival once Peter Obi and Kwankwaso work together with the help of all the leaders from the other side of the country.
