Baba Yusuf, a political strategist and the Group Chief Executive Officer of Global Investment and Trade Company, has raised concerns about the country’s lack of security. He says that bandits will soon enter the Nigerian Senate and House of Representatives.
According to Naija News, Yusuf said this in an interview on Arise News. He said that Nigerians were now paying taxes to bandits and going to them for help in the North.
He also said that politicians are using the country’s problems to get votes, and that terrorists are taunting Nigeria and daring the state to do something about it.
Yusuf remembered President Bola Tinubu’s words during his visit to Plateau State: “It will never happen again.” But the next day, terrorists attacked a community in the state.
He says that terrorists are killing soldiers, dressing up as soldiers, and going to talk to the government, then going home without any problems and even sending letters to the government.
He said, “We are already there.” And why did I say that? First of all, I said that events don’t measure performance; impacts and outcomes do.
“If we look at how unsafe Nigeria has become in the last three and a half years, they are now in Niger and Kwara, which is a place we never thought they would go to.
“You can see what they are doing.” They come whenever they want in Benue and Plateau. Two weeks ago, Mr. President told the widows, I mean the victims, in Plateau that “it will never happen again.” The next day, these people had the nerve to make it happen again.
“They are challenging the state. They are making fun of us. When they kill our soldiers, they wear the uniforms of our military and go to what is called a mediation arrangement with the government.
“This robber wore the uniform of the Assistant Commissioner, brought his gun, and went home without any problems. They use social media. We know their usernames. They don’t even care to hide their faces.
“They send notices, and then they come on the day of the notice and do what they said they would do. Now they are overrunning brigades, not just brigades in cities, but also brigades in the theater of war. They are overrunning the brigade. They kill our colonels and generals almost every day.
The ruling party makes it look like it’s not a big deal, and then the opposition uses it to make a show of strength while people are dying every day. This is a life-or-death issue that we should all take seriously, no matter what party we’re in. And we should handle this differently; as I said before, it will still happen. I said it on another sister station very soon, bandits will be in the Senate and the House of Representatives because Nigerians are paying them tax in the north.
“People are starting to trust them. They go to them to help them work things out. They go to them for safety. And we say we should not talk about it, and we say we are making progress.
