The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said again that it supports President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, putting to rest rumors that the party has pulled its support for his bid for a second term.
Auwalu Abdullahi Soja, the APC State Publicity Secretary, signed a statement on April 17, 2026, saying that a group called the Arewa APC Forum, Kano State Chapter, had made a false claim that the party had stopped supporting the President.
The statement said that the claim was false, misleading, and a planned effort to hurt the party’s reputation.
The party says that no official or constitutionally backed body within the APC in Kano has made such a decision. They also stressed that the state chapter is fully behind President Tinubu and his government.
“The APC in Kano knows that some people and groups without names are trying to cause confusion and division within the party,” the statement said.
It went on to say, “We want to make it clear that this so-called forum is not known to the party structure and does not represent the views of APC members in Kano State.”
The party also said again that it trusts President Tinubu’s leadership. It said that his government is focused on providing good governance, making economic reforms, and encouraging national development.
Hon. Umar Haruna Doguwa, the head of the APC in Kano, told party members and the public to completely ignore the statement, calling it the work of troublemakers trying to stir up trouble.
The statement went on to say, “The so-called signatory of the supposed withdrawal is faceless and not a member of the party at any level in Kano.”
