Peter Obi Our President (PETOOP) is a group that supports Obi and is asking the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to give the 2027 presidential ticket to the southern geopolitical zone.
PETOOP told former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to give up his desperate attempt at all costs. Saying, “The North has ruled Nigeria more times than the South since 1960.” The South has a better chance of making the next president.
The group also said that ADC must let its presidential candidate come from the South of Nigeria. “Not doing so would give the ruling party APC under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu a smooth win in 2027.”
On Saturday, Magnus Oraka, the National Converner of PETOOP, told reporters at the NUJ secretary that this was true.
Oraka said that democracy and government have turned into “comic theater,” and that Obi is a brand that gives people the chance to lead.
The group thinks Obi will change the story, based on what he’s done in the past.
He also told Prof. Joash Amupitan, the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to step down right away because he thought there was “partisan interference in ADC affairs.”
Oraka said that Prof. Amupitan’s tweet, “victory is sure,” which was made public, is proof that INEC cannot be trusted to run free, fair, and credible elections under his leadership.
“INEC has stopped being an unbiased referee and has become openly partisan.” “We have the proof,” Oraka said.
He said that INEC’s recent involvement in the ADC’s internal party affairs is wrong.
INEC has gone too far by not recognizing Senator David Mark as the rightful leader of the party.
“If Amupitan has any sense of honor left, he will resign today.” If he doesn’t agree, President Tinubu must show that he is a good leader by firing him right away.
“If the President doesn’t do anything, the National Assembly must use its constitutional powers to fix our electoral management body.
“A biased INEC means the end of free elections.” We won’t accept a situation where the referee wears the jersey of one team.
Oraka promised that if the conditions given did not work, they would take action and not stop until justice is done.
