President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has named Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu as Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs to replace Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar who resigned to contest the 2027 elections.
Ambassador Odumegwu-Ojukwu served as Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In like manner, the President has also forwarded the name of Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, for confirmation as the new Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
Before his nomination, Ambassador Enikanolaiye, who hails from Kogi State was Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations.
Enikanolaiye is a veteran public servant and distinguished diplomat with over three decades of exemplary service in Nigeria’s foreign service.
He was previously Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and has served in key diplomatic postings in Addis Ababa, Belgrade, Ottawa, London and New Delhi.
The President said the appointments are part of continuous efforts to reposition Nigeria’s foreign policy architecture for greater efficiency, strategic engagement and stronger global partnerships.
Tinubu “congratulates the appointees and encourages them to work hard to promote Nigeria’s national interest, enhance economic diplomacy, encourage regional stability and protect the welfare of Nigerians at home and abroad”, Presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga said in a statement.
