2027: Kano Ex-Deputy Governor Gwarzo Officially Dumps ADC

Aminu Gwarzo, a former Deputy Governor of Kano State, has resigned from the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Gwarzo, according to reports, resigned in a letter dated 1st of May, 2026, addressed to the Chairman of the ADC in Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State.

The former deputy governor said his resignation from the party was with immediate effect in the letter received on May 4.

Gwarzo ascribed his decision to recent political developments and the need to re-assess his membership of the party in line with his political vision.

Kwankwaso said his decision was taken after consultations with his political allies, supporters and well wishers across the Kano State.

“The decision comes after deep reflection and wide consultations with my political associates, supporters and well wishers across the state,” he said.

He said that the changing political scenario in the state and the country made it necessary for him to take a fresh political direction.

“The recent political developments and the changing political landscape have necessitated a review of my membership in the interest of the people and the future of our state and the nation,” he said.

The former deputy governor said his resignation was due to patriotic considerations and his desire to pursue a political path that aligns with his values.

He added: “My decision is informed by patriotic considerations and the need to pursue a political path that aligns with my vision for good governance, democratic values and sustainable development of our dear state.

Gwarzo said his future political activities would be guided by his commitment to good governance, democratic ideals and the development of Kano State.

He said, despite his resignation, he appreciated the leadership and members of the ADC for the support they gave him while he was in the party.

“I want to sincerely appreciate the leadership and members of the party for the cooperation, respect and support I enjoyed during my stay in the party,” he said.

The former deputy governor did not reveal his next political move as of the time of filing this report.
