ICPC Calls for Ethical Conduct at Launch of FGC Anti-Corruption Unit

Kano State Resident Anti-Corruption Commissioner, Ahmed Muhammad Wada, has called on public servants to uphold the ethical and professional responsibility as the bedrock of public service delivery.

This was contained in a press statement issued after the inauguration of Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU) at Federal Government College, Kano.

The commissioner, Wada, who was represented by Chief Superintendent Ibrahim Garba of the ICPC Legal Services Department, Kano State Office, made the call during the ceremony, and charged members of the newly established unit to see their appointment as a responsibility to promote accountability in the institution.

He described the ACTU as a key implementation structure of the ICPC’s corruption prevention mandate, built to strengthen transparency and offer a practical framework for fighting corruption at the institutional level.

“You are expected to take this responsibility as a turning point in ensuring that the affairs of this institution are run with integrity and accountability,” Barr. Garba said on the commissioner’s behalf.

He said ACTUs in institutions like schools is a tactical approach to embedding anti-corruption values early in the system.

The initiative was earlier welcomed by the principal of the college, Hafsat Adebayo who described it as a timely intervention targeted at promoting integrity in the education sector.

This move will go a long way in nipping corruption and related offences in the bud at various levels of the society,” she said. She added that the unit would help keep both staff and students accountable in their daily conduct.

In his address on behalf of the ACTU, Dr Dawah Iliyasu Sodangi described the inauguration as a call to duty, stating that members had been sensitized on corrupt practices and preventive measures.

“The unit will act as an ethical beacon within the institution, reinforcing integrity and responsible behaviour among stakeholders,” he said.
