A factional leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dumebi Kachikwu, has accused presidential aspirants, Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, and others, of joining the party with a strategy that was set up to fail.
He said this during an interview on Arise TV Prime Time.
He debunked claims that President Bola Tinubu was trying to hijack the party, saying those trying to hijack it are David Mark, Atiku and Peter Obi.
“Let me make it clear. President Tinubu did not try to hijack my party. “The people I am against are David Mark, Atiku and Peter Obi. The people that tried to hijack my party are David Mark, Atiku and Peter Obi,” Kachikwu declared.
He said while he was working tirelessly to build the ADC, Obi and Atiku had no intention of advancing the cause of the party.
“They came to this party because they were willing to fail. “They came to this party because they were ready to work on the public psyche,” he said.
Kachikwu explained that he travelled all over the country popularising the party and fighting numerous court cases to protect the interests of the party.
He said that Obi, Atiku and Mark joined the ADC with the purpose of capitalizing on public opinion and blaming the government if their political aspirations were dashed.
“They haven’t gone to court, but they’ve gone to the court of public opinion. “Whatever happens, they will say the government of the day frustrated their ambition,” Kachikwu argued.
