The Federal Government has condemned the killing of 21 residents of Obeagu, Egedegede and Nkalaha communities in Ishielu by suspected Fulani herdsmen last week.

The Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, condemned the attack when he visited the communities where the suspected herdsmen wreaked havoc on lives and property.

Reacting to the development, Osinbajo described the act as “cowardly and wicked”.

He said that there must not be a repeat of such attack as it could trigger unimaginable consequences that could envelope to others states.

Osinbajo said, “It is deeply distressing and I sympathise not just with the governor and people of Ebonyi State, but in particular the people of the communities that have been affected. I think that What we have seen here is very cowardly and wicked and all of us condemn it and we said that it must not be allowed to happen again.”

He added, “I want to say that the kind of thing that happened here just as the governor has said, has the tendency to create even further problem. What has happened here can envelope not just this state, but several other states if people chose to revenge. If you choose to revenge; if you choose to fight back, we do not know where it will end.”

Speaking on the call logs from the phone the attackers left behind that the communities handed over to the Vice President for the Federal Government to fish out the murderous herdsmen, Osinbajo said, “The those documents would be investigated to ensure that the innocent will not be punished.”
