The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) on Tuesday announced that it has commenced an indefinite strike.

President of the union Anderson Ezeibe made the announcement at a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday morning.

Members of the union, he said, have agreed to shut all the Nigerian polytechnics until their demands are met.

This is coming in spite of government’s move to avert the strike action.

Director of press and public relations, Federal Ministry of Education Ben Goong had in a statement late on Monday said the minister Prof Adamu Adamu will meet with ASUP leadership on Tuesday to persuade them to stop the strike.
