Fani-Kayode granted bail on self-recognition
Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has been granted bail on self-recognition by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Fani-Kayode stated this in an Instagram post last night, although he was silent on the reason for the invitation by the EFCC.
The ex-minister said he was not arrested as reported but was only invited and treated professionally.
“Just arrived at the George Hotel for dinner. I was never arrested by the EFCC. I was invited & I flew down to Lagos to see them,” he wrote.
“I arrived in their office at 2.00pm & left at 8.30pm. I was granted bail on self recognition. They were very polite & professional. Thanks be to God.”
It was gathered that the ex-minister was queried over a medical report which he allegedly procured to evade his trial before a Federal High Court in Lagos.
The medical report was reportedly presented before Justice Daniel Osiagor of the Federal High Court, Lagos on October 13 when Fani-Kayode was supposed to be re-arraigned.
The EFCC had charged Fani-Kayode alongside a former minister of finance, Nenadi Usman, and two others on 17 counts of conspiracy, money laundering, and fraud before Justice Rilwan Aikawa who has now been transferred.
