Russian missiles struck a home in Zaporizhzhia, a city in southeast Ukraine, killing a 50-year-old man and his daughter, 11, officials said on Sunday.

It was the most recent Russian attack on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure as Moscow’s invasion enters its second year.

Sergiy Kruk, the head of the State Emergency Service, posted on social media, “The enemy launched a missile attack on Zaporizhzhia and killed another Ukrainian family.”

Anatoliy Kurtiev, the head of the Zaporizhzhia City Council, reported that the girl passed away in an ambulance.

Mother of the girl, 46, was found alive under the rubble by rescuers.
When the Russians attacked at night, her older daughter wasn’t home, according to the State Emergency Service.

Kurtiev said two Russian missiles struck a residential building, adding that windows and roofs were damaged in dozens of neighbouring houses. The region of Zaporizhzhia is one of four Ukrainian provinces Russian President Vladimir Putin claims to have annexed last year.
