On Thursday, Caleb Mutfwang, the current governor of Plateau state, revoked a number of appointments made by the previous governor, Simon Lalong, including the selection of permanent secretaries and new hires for the state civil service.

His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has issued the following directives in light of the apparent flagrant abuse of public service rules, non-adherence to due process, and indiscriminate and irregular employment in the State and Local Governments by the immediately preceding administration:
“All State Civil Service appointments made beginning on October 1, 2022, are hereby suspended effective immediately and are subject to review in accordance with due process.
“All those who have retired but have not yet left their offices or duty posts must turn over any government property they may have and leave their positions immediately. This could be because of an extension or contract appointment.
“All civil servants who are eligible for retirement but have not yet submitted their notices or letters of retirement should do so right away and start the retirement process.
“All Civil Servants and/or Persons appointed Permanent Secretaries from January 2023 to the present should immediately return to their previous positions.”
The statement also stated that the administration would take additional measures and steps in due course to strengthen and develop a civil service focused on results.
