Vice President Kashim Shettima visited the Shehu of Borno, Abubakar Garbai El-Amin Sl-Kanemi, at his palace while in Borno, his home state, on Wednesday for the Sallah festival.
The Vice President left Abuja for Borno shortly after observing the Eid prayers at the National Eid ground, Abuja, according to a statement from Olusola Abiola, the State House Director of Information for the Office of the Vice President.
The statement claims that Shettima prayed for Nigeria and Nigerians at the Eid ground, calling for unity and asking for long-lasting healing.
After the prayers, he spoke with journalists and said, “May Allah heal us from whatever afflicts us in our personal lives and as a nation, and may this day bring forth enduring unity and progress to our beloved country.”
The statement, “VP Shettima at National Eid Ground, prays for Nigeria’s unity and progress,” claims that. Shettima urged Nigerians to embrace the season’s essential virtues of sacrifice and forgiveness.
This holy day is an opportunity to consider Allah’s mercy as manifested in the generous favours extended to Prophet Abraham and his son, Prophet Isma’il.
“These timeless lessons serve as a beacon of light for humanity throughout time, reminding us of the insurmountable obstacles our Creator places in our way to salvation.
“In embracing these teachings, we find the moral inspiration to be the best versions of ourselves,” the VP said.
Along with other devout people, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, and the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, were present at the prayer area.
The Vice President then left Abuja for his native Borno, where Governor Babagana Zulum welcomed him.
Shettima arrived and inspected a Guard of Honour mounted by a Nigerian Air Force detachment at the Maiduguri Air Force Base.
