Afe Babalola Slams Nigeria’s Poor Leadership On The 1999 Constitution
Aare Afe Babalola (SAN) will celebrate his 60th call to the bar on Monday in Ado-Ekiti with the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, and former President Olusegun Obasanjo among other luminaries.
Other dignitaries who would attend the event include the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Yakubu Maikyau, SAN, the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto State, Bishop Matthew Kukah, and others.
The celebration of his 60 years as a lawyer will include a public talk and book launch.
On July 9, 1963, Afe Babalola, the institution’s founder, was admitted to the Bar of England and Wales.
The ceremony, which is being organized by Aare Babalola’s mentees, admirers, and beneficiaries, will take place in the Alfa Belgore Hall, Afe Babalola University, ABUAD, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, according to a statement by the organizing committee’s chairman, Kehinde Ogunwumiju, SAN.
Bishop Kukah will provide the anniversary lecture, with ex-President Obasanjo serving as the event’s chairman, according to Olu Ogunwumiju, SAN, with the topic “The future of constitutional democracy in Nigeria: Imperative of a new constitutional order.”
