Tinubu recalls Nigeria’s high commissioner to UK

President Bola Tinubu has summoned Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Sarafa Isola.

The recall of the high commissioner was announced in a letter dated August 31 by Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar.

“I have the honour to inform you of Mr President’s decision to recall you, signalling the end of your tenure as Federal Republic of Nigeria Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Kingdom.”

“By this communication, you are now expected to begin the process of winding down your affairs, take formal leave of your host government within 60 days, and return to Nigeria no later than October 31, 2023,” the letter states.
Tuggar praised the ambassador for his service and wished him success in his future endeavours on Tinubu’s behalf.

Former President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Isola to the position of High Commissioner to the United Kingdom in January 2021.

Isola previously served as Minister of Mines and Steel Development under late former President Musa Yar’Adua.
