The President Bola Tinubu-called negotiation conference was boycotted by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in an effort to prevent the union from going on its planned two-day warning strike.
Simon Lalong, President Tinubu’s minister of labor and employment, called the conference, according to Daily Trust, to prevent the strike that the organized labor had called. According to reports, the Trade Union Congress (TUC) leadership, led by its president, Festus Osifo, convened the meeting, which was scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. but got underway at precisely 5 p.m.
