The United States of America (USA) chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed concern about a fictitious National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) branch’s scheme to undermine President Bola Tinubu’s educational background.

In a press release issued on Monday and signed by Professor Tai Balofin, the APC’s chairman, the party clarified that the organization hosting the international press conference under the name NADECO USA is not the same NADECO that President Tinubu was a member of during the Abacha administration. The statement also urged the public not to be duped by attempts to alter history.

“The leadership of APC USA firmly opposes any attempts to damage President Bola Tinubu’s and, by extension, Nigeria’s, reputation,” the statement said. We are certain that the democratic procedures and the legal system are strong enough to handle any justified worries. In addition to harming the public, hasty and baseless accusations run the risk of drawing attention away from urgent problems that actually demand investigation.

“We are steadfast in our adherence to democratic ideals, and we urge this group operating under NADECO USA to have a constructive conversation while waiting for the legal system to resolve any legitimate issues.

“To inform and guide the public and international community about the true situation in Nigeria and the progressive leadership President Tinubu is leading in our country, we will organize a public campaign in Chicago on Monday, October 22, 2023, and address a world press conference.” This statement is directed towards the supporters of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party, respectively, and advises them to wait for the outcome of the Supreme Court ruling. The APC USA leadership feels obliged to respond to recent accusations and remarks made by a political opposition group operating under the guise of NADECO USA. “We have discovered that NADECO, a phony, is planning a global press conference with the intention of spreading false information about Bola Tinubu’s educational background,” the statement reads.

We firmly feel that it is our duty to clarify this issue and emphasize the value of verified information over hasty and unsupported claims.

“Although we value the press’s role as democracy’s watchdog, it’s critical to discern between sincere, productive investigation and unfounded charges.

“Chicago State University (CSU) has addressed the allegation regarding Tinubu’s educational credential and confirmed the certificate’s legitimacy. It is important to remember that this issue is already under the jurisdiction of the proper authorities, namely the courts, where the law will be obeyed and due process will be observed.

“Tinubu, a well-known individual and statesman, has made significant contributions to Nigeria’s political climate. His commitment to the country and his years of devotion have been clear for years. The statement said, “Tarnishing his name for political benefit and cheap blackmail is unworthy and futile.
