In order to support Nigeria’s Super Eagles in their AFCON quarterfinal matchup against Angola on Friday, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) 2023 presidential candidate, has traveled to Abidjan, Ivory Coast.
According to Naija News, the LP presidential candidate arrived in Ivory Coast on Friday morning with party chieftain and previous Anambra State governorship candidate Valentine Ozigbo.
The former governor of Anambra State is in Abidjan to support and encourage the Super Eagles to victory. He was pictured with the former president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick.
Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali is expected to start for the Super Eagles this Friday in Nigeria’s pivotal Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 quarterfinal matchup against Angola, which is a huge boost for the team.
Since Nwabali was carted off during the round of 16 victory over Cameroon, there had been uncertainty surrounding his participation and his fitness for the match.
The Chippa United goalkeeper, Nwabali, passed a late fitness test, according to Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro, despite early reports indicating he was in discomfort and had only taken part in light training sessions.
The announcement made by Peseiro at the pre-game press conference put an end to rumors regarding Nwabali’s availability, which was greatly appreciated by the Nigerian team.
Nigeria will start with the same lineup as their previous game, in which they defeated Cameroon, thanks to the inclusion of Nwabali in the starting lineup.

The squad will still rely on Victor Osimhen’s offensive prowess and Ademola Lookman, who has already scored two goals in the competition.
Alex Iwobi will continue to play in the deep midfield position, and Calvin Bassey and captain William Troost-Ekong will bolster the defense.
The Super Eagles want to be the first team to qualify for the AFCON 2023 semifinals. At the Felix Houphouet-Boigny stadium in Abidjan, starting at 6 p.m., Nigeria would move one step closer to winning the coveted continental trophy with a victory over Angola.
