Victor Osehobo, the assistant publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State, has denied rumors that senator Adams Oshiomhole of Edo North is pressuring President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima to run for governor ahead of the party’s primary election on February 17.

Osehobo emphasized that Oshiomhole was a supporter of due process and called into question the veracity of reports that he was forcing a preferred candidate.

Speaking yesterday in Benin, the capital of Edo State, Osehobo claimed that the reports were intended to cause havoc before the primary elections.

“The numerous paid articles about Edo APC in mushroom publications reveal a laughable lack of understanding of the transparent process through which a candidate emerges,” the speaker declared.

The claims that Sen. Oshiomhole is supporting and pressuring a particular candidate for governorship are unfounded, given that the direct primary process is still ongoing.

“It is a desperate attempt to sow discord when Sen. Oshiomhole is accused of pushing the dissemination of endorsements from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and APC National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje.

The timing of these allegations raises questions, as the primary screening began yesterday.

It is unreal to suggest that Oshiomhole planned covert meetings between former commissioners Kassim Afegbua and Mika Amanokha.

“When and where was this purported meeting held? It is unclear why Afegbua and Amanokha were not contacted directly for clarification given their accessibility.
