The All Progressives Congress (APC) chapter in Rivers State has urged President Bola Tinubu not to give in to attempts by some individuals to compel the state’s former governor Nyisom Wike to hijack the party. According to the party, recognizing Wike would jeopardize the allegiance of party members who had remained faithful to the APC.

The Rivers state branch of the APC also urged President Tinubu to reject former governor Wike’s attempts to covertly impose himself on the party in order to seize control of its structures in the state in an open letter to him dated July 6 and seen by newsmen in the State House, Abuja, on Friday.

The letter, which was signed by Comrade Darlington Nwauju, the party’s publicity secretary, cautioned President Tinubu to be wary of Wike and his allies, claiming that the former governor’s claims that he is now working to help the party will only undermine devoted and devoted APC members and other stakeholders.

“We wish to clear the air that Gov. Wike did not provide any value to our dear Rivers State APC,” the party stated. During the 2015 presidential election, Mr. President Sir, APC members in the state of Rivers and their families were subjected to unimaginable brutality, resulting in countless deaths. “Dear Mr. President, we wish to clear the air that Gov Wike did not deliver any value to our dear Rivers State APC, rather he fought against our dear Rivers APC,” the Rivers APC said in response to the onslaught of former Governor Wike-led aggression against innocent party supporters and members.

The chapter urged Tinubu to oppose former Governor Wike “because he has no political ideology as a script which he follows” and “because he has no political ideology as a foundation upon which to build his ideals of party growth and sustainability.”

Because they now view party politics as a tradable good, the Rivers APC said, “We know that your leadership will not permit those who believe in political thuggery, those recognized by the local and international community as persistent abusers of our democratic stability and mischief markers, to highjack our dear Rivers APC.”
