Court sentenced four men to death, one life imprisonment for murder in Jigawa

For their crimes, the Jigawa State High Court of Justice has sentenced four men to death by hanging and one other to life in prison.

Salahu Yau, Aminu Salmanu, Salmanu Shafi’u, and Yusuf Sale were found guilty of culpable homicide and given death by hanging by the court, which was presided over by Justice Ahmad Muhammad Abubakar.

The men received sentences of two years to three months in prison or fines after being found guilty of additional charges such as criminal conspiracy, criminal trespass, and unlawful assembly.

The defendants from Kalawa Village in Jigawa State’s Ringim Local Government Area (LGA), according to the prosecution, killed a person.

The defendants testified in their own defence and called two additional witnesses, while the prosecution called four witnesses and provided supporting evidence.

The judge said that the prosecution had successfully established its case beyond a reasonable doubt before handing down the sentence.

A five-year-old student was raped by a teacher from the Ringim LGA, Ibrahim Isah, who was found guilty of the crime and given a life sentence for it.

While the defendant testified in his own defence and called three additional witnesses, the prosecution presented their case using four witnesses and supporting evidence.

Justice Abubakar stated that the prosecution had successfully proven its case beyond a reasonable doubt before passing judgement.

Zainab Baba Santali, the Jigawa State Ministry of Justice’s Public Relations Officer, responded to the verdict by saying, “The court has provided justice to the victims and their families. We anticipate that this sentence will deter potential future perpetrators of such heinous crimes.

In a related development, the Jigawa State Government reaffirmed its dedication to protecting the security and safety of its citizens, pleading with the public to report any suspicious activity to the proper authorities.

Additionally, the government urged guardians and parents to watch out for their charges and keep them safe.
