The Federal Capital Territory Administration demolished a multimillion-naira duplex at Plot 226 Cadastral Zone, A02 Wuse 1, Wuse Zone 6 District on Monday for constructing an unapproved plot of land.

Mukhtar Galadima, Director of Development Control, told journalists in Abuja on Monday that the building was said to belong to the late Alake of Egba Land, Oba Oye Lipede, but was taken over by Ibrahim Kamba and Ademu Teku, who built the duplex despite all warnings.

He stated that his team had to conduct extensive research to determine the original owner of the plot of land, given the various claims made by the parties, and that the FCTA will not consider the status of any defaulting developer if development rules and regulations are violated.

“We demolished the duplex because someone built on someone else’s land without valid title and building plan approval,” Galadima explained. The investigation revealed that the developer did not own the plot, which is why we had to demolish the building.

“We allowed the building to reach this point before demolishing it because we needed to follow all of the procedures.” He was served with all of the notices to stop working, but being a stubborn developer, he continued regardless of the notices we served.

“After our investigation, we determined who the original allottee was, so we must remove it.” We will consult with the legal department to determine the next course of action against the developer.”
