Dr. Uchechukwu Ogah, a former minister of state for the development of mines and steel, has expressed his sorrow over the passing of Professor Joe Irukwu (CFR), a former president general of the leading Igbo sociocultural organisation.
Ogah described the late Irukwu as a nationalist, legal luminary, and insurance expert in a condolence message that was made available to journalists in Umuahia, Abia State.
He mentioned that the deceased made significant contributions to both the public and private sectors of the Nigerian economy, including founding the African Development Insurance Company and serving as Nigeria Reinsurance Corporation’s first-ever managing director.

The former minister characterised Professor Irukwu’s passing as a significant blow that leaves a gap that will be challenging to fill.
Death is a necessary end for all mortals, but for a man like Dee Ogboo, who arrived, observed, and triumphed in all spheres of human endeavour, it is not.
To express his condolences to the Irukwu family, the residents of Amokwe Item in Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), and the insurance industry on the passing of this pan-African statesman and illustrious son of Abia State, Ogah joined all people of good will.
“To the Irukwus: Please know that you are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. I encourage you to put your faith in God, build on the traditions that Prof. Irukwu left behind, and pray that God will accept the soul of this revered leader and grant him eternal rest. Additionally, Dr. Ogah said, “Laa Nke Oma Dee Ogboo.
