The governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has stated that his administration’s actions regarding the political issue in the state were made with the intention of bringing about peace rather than out of fear.
During the inaugural state banquet hosted by his administration on Monday night at Government House Port Harcourt to welcome the new year, Governor Fubara informed the people of Rivers of this.
In addition to wishing the people of Rivers a fruitful and prosperous 2024, Fubara made an appeal for them to support President Bola Amhed Tinibu’s ongoing peace process, promising that his administration would not be embroiled in any shady political battles that would obstruct the state’s bright future.
“We have never made a decision out of fear; instead, we have always acted in the best interests of our people and shown respect for our elders.
I’m pleading with us all to accept the calm. We require this calm because the advancement of the state, not our own interests, is what we intend for the state.
The governor revealed that his government was committed to leaving Rivers State with a legacy of progress and togetherness rather than political fear.
In his welcome speech, Dr. Tammy Wenike Danagogo, the Secretary to the State Government, thanked God that Governor Fubara was committed to delivering the benefits of democracy to the people of the state, even in the face of political unrest.
He emphasised that the people of Rivers State are fortunate to have a governor who is “calculated, humble, honest, and hardworking,” and he asked them to be ambassadors of justice, peace, and truth in order for the state to continue on its path to greatness.
