Haaland in the process joined Lionel Messi and Luiz Adriano as only the players to score five times in a single Champions League match.
The 22-yeard-old bagged a first-half hattrick (22′ (P), 24′, 45+2′), before scoring two more in the second half (53′, 57′).
With 39 goals in all competitions this term, Haaland has broken Tommy Johnson’s 94-year-old single-season record for Man City.
İlkay Gündoğan and Kevin De Bruyne were also on the scoresheet for the reigning English champions.
Meanwhile, the other Tuesday’s Champions League game between FC Porto and Inter Milan ended in a stalemate with the Italians qualifying for the quarterfinals on 0-1 aggregate.
