IPOB behind violence, destructions in S’East — Army

0 443

THE Nigerian Army says the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra has assumed a violent dimension in recent times “oiled by propaganda and disinformation to whip-up sentiments and draw sympathy from unsuspecting citizens in the region”.

According to the Army, the group’s sit-at-home order was greeted with violence, destruction of public installations and facilities, arson, as well as looting of shops.

Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu disclosed this in a statement titled, ‘Conspiracy Pretext Employed By IPOB/ESN, A Hoax,’ issued yesterday.

Nwachukwu rubbished claims that the Army and the Department of State Services created the Biafra National Guard and the unknown gunmen in the South-East.
