A Kano Chief Magistrates’ Courtroom ordered on Wednesday the remand of three males for allegedly sodomising 11 underage boys.
The police charged Uzaifa Rabiu, Aminu Ahmed and Mohammed Bello, all residents of Jakara Quarters, Kano, with ‘unnatural’ offence.
The prosecutor, Amina Baba, informed the courtroom that the defendants dedicated the offence between October 2023 and February 2024 at Jakara Quarters, Kano.
Baba alleged that the defendants deceived and lured the 11 victims to their homes in Jakara Quarters, Kano and sodomised them.
She stated that the offence contravened the provisions of Part 284 of the Penal Code.
The defendants pleaded not responsible to the cost, and the defence counsel, Dalhatu Usman, urged the courtroom to grant his purchasers bail based on Sections 35 and 36 (5) of the 1999 Nigeria Structure as amended.
The prosecutor, nevertheless, opposed the bail utility, arguing that the fees towards the defendant have been severe and urging the courtroom to dismiss the applying.
Chief Justice of the Peace Auwal Yusuf-Suleiman ordered that the defendants be remanded in a correctional facility and adjourned the matter till March 28 for a ruling on the bail utility
