For the second time in less than two years, Lobi Stars has lost their manager following the death of Barnabas Imenger.

Media officer of the team Austin Tyowua confirmed the demise of the former Super Eagles striker on Monday.

Mr Tyowua said Imenger died at the National Hospital in Abuja on Monday morning after a protracted illness.

“It is true that we lost our team manager 3am at the Abuja national hospital today,” he told TheCable.

“The TM had been in and out of the hospital for a while. He was on life support and used oxygen to breath at the Federal Medical Centre in Makurdi.

“Just yesterday, he was referred to the Abuja national hospital. But he died in the hospital.”

Tyowua described it as a loss to Nigerian football.

Imenger was part of the Super Eagles team that played at the 1995 FIFA Confederations Cup in Saudi Arabia.

He was appointed team manager in 2013.

The Benue outfit had lost first team coach, Solomon Ogbeide in May 2019.
