Oyo State governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, on Wednesday evening visited former Governor of the state and the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, High Chief Rashidi Ladoja at his Ondo Street residence in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The visit, it was gathered might not be unconnected with the presentation of ceremonial beaded crown to High Chief Ladoja.

Recall that Ladoja had publicly announced his acceptance of the ceremonial crown at a live radio programme in Ibadan on Sunday.

He said acceptance of the ceremonial crown does not make him Oba as there is only one recognised monarch who is the Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Sources privy to the meeting said Governor Makinde arrived at Ladoja’s Ondo Street at Bodija area of the city around 6pm as both leaders held a closed-door meeting before coming outside again and discussed for a few minutes before the governor left.

“They discussed at length, especially about the progress of Ibadanland in particular and the state in general. They also discussed about the ceremonial beaded crown,” a source said.

Another source expressed delight by the visit of the governor to Ladoja, saying, “We were excited to receive him (Makinde) yesterday. The governor and Otun Olubadan are on good terms. Forget about what people are saying. The visit was like son went to greet his father, simple.”

It was further gathered that plans were already concluded for the presentation of the crown to the Otun Olubadan.

The presentation of beaded crown, which ought to have taken place this week, was postponed till next week.
