Moon sighting: Police warn against breach of peace in Bauchi

The Bauchi State Police Command has issued a stern warning to miscreants towards undermining public peace whereas celebrating moon sighting which marks the start of Ramadan within the state

The command’s Spokesperson, SP Ahmed Wakil, gave the warning in an announcement on Sunday in Bauchi.

Based on him, the eye of the command had been drawn to a purported plan by some reckless miscreants to leverage the moon-sighting celebration to undermine public peace within the state.

“The command acknowledges the norm of celebrating the sighting of the brand new moon, which marks the Ramadan Fasting interval for the Muslim trustworthy.

“Dad and mom and guardians are implored to train management in guiding their kids and wards from deliberate acts able to breaching public order within the state,” he mentioned.

He mentioned the state police commissioner, Auwal Mohammed, sternly warned the criminally minded, who have been hatching plans to disturb public peace and security to desist from it.

He additional said that the command wouldn’t tolerate such reckless acts and would come arduous on the perpetrators.

“The CP equally directed all Space Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Tactical Staff Commanders/Operational Departments of the Command to place in place safety measures to arrest any one who makes an attempt to disrupt legislation and order within the state.

“Moreover, the CP implores the great folks of Bauchi State to proceed supporting the police within the struggle towards crime and lawlessness,” he mentioned.

The spokesperson known as on law-abiding residents of the state to go about their companies with none worry of intimidation, urging them to report any suspicious motion to the closest police station.
