“Data Collection Survey on Transport and Logistics Sector in Nigeria” is the project on which the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) have agreed to collaborate.
The Federal Roads Maintenance Agency Headquarters in Abuja was visited yesterday by a delegation from JICA, headed by Mr. Yamauchi, during which this was disclosed.
With a focus on ports, land transportation, and water transportation, the JICA survey project seeks to gather data and offer recommendations for strengthening policies, enhancing transportation infrastructure, and raising service standards for operators.
As a significant player in the road transport industry, FERMA is required by the delegation leader to supply data for the JICA survey, including the road network map, the road length summary table, and maps illustrating the state of the roads and their corresponding summary tables.

Speaking, Engr. Ini L. Usoro, the Acting Managing Director of FERMA, expressed the Agency’s gratitude for JICA’s demonstrated interest in the Nigerian market and confirmed that FERMA is prepared to collaborate with the team from data collection to the conversion of collected data into actionable information for the nation’s road network.
Support for JICA will strengthen the already strong relationship between the two countries, according to a statement signed by the Managing Director and Assistant Director of Information, Iyogun Asobumeh Sunday, Director of Communications and Public Relations.
