Nigeria’s Ade Danor Appointed Executive Director WSDGsO

The World Sustainable Development Goals Organisation (WSDGsO), an international body operating across all UN member nations with a mandate encompassing the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), has appointed Dr Fubes Ade Danor as its Executive Director for the West Africa (ECOWAS region.

The appointment was made on Wednesday in a letter signed by the organisation’s African governor, Yahyaya Adams Muhammad.

Muhammad highlighted that Dr. Danor’s selection was based on merit, emphasising his extensive experience and leadership in SDG-related initiatives within the region. He stated that Dr Danor stood out among other candidates vying for the position.

He encouraged Dr Danor to remain committed and determined to advance the organisation’s objectives throughout the ECOWAS region.

During the official presentation of the appointment letter in Abuja, Nigeria, the Global Secretary-General of the Advisory Council, His Excellency Wadji Aref Moukarim, congratulated Dr Danor.

He assured him of the organisation’s unwavering support and emphasised that all necessary resources would be available to ensure his success.

Sani Ibrahim Yelwa said at the event: “In recent years, the urgent need for sustainable development has reshaped the global agenda. With mounting concerns surrounding climate change, poverty, and inequality, international organisations seek leaders who not only understand these challenges but can also implement effective solutions.

“The appointment of Dr. Fubes Ade Danor as Executive Director of the World Sustainable Development Goals Organization (WSDGsO) for West Africa provides a significant opportunity to advance sustainable development initiatives across the region.”

After his appointment, Dr Danor thanked WSDGsO for entrusting him with this responsibility. He assured the organisation of his dedication to achieving its goals and pledged not to disappoint their expectations.

Donor’s appointment is expected to invigorate sustainable development efforts in West Africa, aligning regional strategies with the global SDG agenda.
